Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget continues to command attention in the sports world. The sixth-largest exchange recently announced a multi-million dollar sponsorship with the high-intensity MotoGP World Championship, becoming its official regional partner. This collaboration is the first between MotoGP and a crypto company, highlighting an intersection of the crypto market and adrenaline-pumping racing.
As part of the agreement, Bitget will become the official regional partner of multiple Grand Prix events in Europe and Asia in 2025. The first event will kick off at the Mugello Circuit during the Italian Grand Prix, then spread across several MotoGP events in Italy, Germany, Spain, and Indonesia. Bitget will finally bring crypto onto the track, at one of the most prestigious racing championships ever, the MotoGP, also known as the F1 of motorcycle events.
Crypto Goes Mainstream with MotoGP Sponsorship
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen expressed happiness about the collaboration, adding that it shows the world that success, on the track or the charts, depends on smart moves and fearless execution. “Racing is a sport of milliseconds; crypto is a market of micro-decisions,” he said. MotoGP CCO Dan Rossomondo said MotoGP’s values align with Biget’s, which are precision, innovation, and high-speed decisions.
Three-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo is behind the campaign’s promotion. Dubbed Bitget’s iconic “Make It Count” slogan, Lorenzo said Bitget’s partnership highlights the importance of time. He added that the worlds of MotoGP and crypto aren’t different, as they both reward those who are smart and fast thinkers.
Bitget made its foray into sports culture with partnerships with Football star Lionel Messi, Juventus, and then LaLiga. With the latest agreement with MotoGP, the exchange is pushing for mainstream crypto adoption, bridging digital currency and sports.
Cryptocurrency Exchanges Shift the Narrative
Cryptocurrency exchanges have long formed strategic partnerships with sports brands and assets, from the NBA to Formula 1. Coinbase became the official partner of the NBA, WNBA, and the NBA 2K League, increasing the brand’s visibility during events. The partnership helped Coinbase reach untapped fan segments.
Formula 1 wasn’t left out with its collaboration with Coinbase and OKX. Coinbase partnered with Aston Martin F1, becoming the first time a racing team entered a deal with a crypto company in USDC. By adopting the stablecoin, Aston Martin can create innovative fan experiences and also allow supporters to make purchases in USDC without worrying about FX volatility. OKX, on the other hand, secured a $70 million partnership with Manchester City of England.
eToro and Crypto.com have secured multiple partnerships with English Premier League football teams, UFC, and NBA arenas. Kraken, another prominent exchange, sponsors Seattle Sounders FC, expanding its exposure to fans. These collaborations indicate that crypto is beyond a currency of trading; its utility is expanding to include special NFTs, creating deeper fan engagements, and establishing brand legitimacy.
Will More Cryptocurrency Exchanges Make their Foray into Sports?
Crypto exchanges are strategically collaborating with sports brands and events for long-term fan engagement, cultural relevance, and credibility. It’s more than just advertising; it’s a game-changing moment for crypto to scale. Therefore, it’s expected that more crypto exchanges will strike more deals with sports brands.
