The US Secret Service has quietly amassed $400 million in seized digital assets over the last decade, storing much in one of the world’s largest crypto cold wallets. Its Global Investigative Operations Center (GIOC) uses blockchain analysis, open-source tools, and even VPN slip-ups to track down fraudsters. This effort combats romance-investment scams, sextortion, and other crypto frauds, which accounted for over half of US internet crime losses in 2024.
