OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman has launched the crypto-associated digital identity initiative World, previously known as Worldcoin, in six cities in the United States.
The project, designed to authenticate individuals in the era of artificial intelligence, is debuting in what it identifies as the “key innovation hubs” of Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco, as stated in an announcement made on April 30.
World provides a cryptocurrency token, Worldcoin (WLD), to individuals who confirm their identity using its specialized device known as an Orb, which captures a scan of the user’s face and eyes.
