A cryptocurrency investor from Manhattan is confronting grave allegations after reportedly kidnapping and torturing an Italian man in a shocking attempt to gain access to digital assets.
John Woeltz, 37, was brought before a Manhattan criminal court on Saturday after being apprehended on Friday. He faces charges of keeping a 28-year-old Italian man captive for weeks in a luxury townhouse in Soho, which was supposedly rented for $30,000 per month.
As per police reports mentioned by The New York Times, the victim arrived in the United States on May 6 and was allegedly seized by Woeltz and an accomplice.
