With the US’ pro-crypto stance, Kazakhstan is set to expand its crypto infrastructure. With only 5% of its population using regulated platforms, President Tokayev pointed out that crypto users are still functioning in what he calls a “gray zone”. He also focused on how important it was to keep up with the evolving crypto landscape. Kazakh authorities have been fighting a battle against illegal crypto exchanges. 36 illegal crypto exchange platforms were shut down in 2024. Over 3500 illegal crypto exchanges have been shut down by Kazakh authorities till date.
