U.S. Vice President JD Vance criticized former SEC Chair Gary Gensler for his regulatory approach to cryptocurrency during his tenure. Vance, during his address at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas, condemned Gensler’s anti-crypto policies while pledging comprehensive deregulation of the cryptocurrency industry.
The U.S. VP reiterated his commitment and that of the Trump administration in his speech at Bitcoin 2025. He emphasized that Trump will rewrite the anti-crypto regulatory frameworks and initiatives of the Biden era, including Operation Chokepoint 2.0. He further added that the current administration will fire everyone like Gensler who doesn’t support the government’s crypto policies.
Vance also advocated for the swift passage of a comprehensive crypto bill to legitimize the industry and provide clarity. He underscored the importance of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general as a hedge against inflation and poor policymaking.
