The artificial intelligence company Anthropic has released the newest versions of its chatbots, facing criticism over a behavioral feature in the testing environment that might report certain users to authorities.
On May 22, Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4, asserting that Claude Opus 4 is their most advanced model to date and “the best coding model in the world,” while Claude Sonnet 4 represents a major improvement from the previous version, “providing enhanced coding and reasoning capabilities.”
The company noted that both updates are hybrid models that offer two functionalities — “instantaneous responses and extended contemplation for more profound reasoning.”
