Cybercrime Crackdown: Hong Kong Targets Romance Scams, AI Fraud, and Crypto Theft

Hong Kong police arrested 503 people in a major anti-fraud and cybercrime operation between April 7 and April 17. The crackdown, codenamed “Mou Gong,” uncovered 404 tech-related scams worth HK$1.56 billion ($200M), including a romance-based crypto fraud ring using AI face-swapping.
